Heroes are men and women who put others before themselves. They are unafraid to face hard work to improve the world around them. Heroes see problems – and solve them.

A real hero won’t seek the spotlight, but we think it is time to shine it on them.

Utah Business’ Health Care Heroes program recognizes excellence, promotes innovation, encourages emulation of successful programs, educates the general public and contributes to the enhancement of the value and quality of health care in Utah. Three award recipients in eight categories are chosen from a field of nominations by an editorial panel of community leaders and health care professionals. The awards are open to organizations, businesses, and people making a significant impact on the quality of health care in Utah. Each nomination should include a narrative of less than 600 words describing the nominee’s qualifications.

Innovation in Health Care: Honors a company or individual primarily responsible for a scientific discovery or new process, device or service that can save lives or improve the quality of life for a large number of people.

Community Outreach: Honors a company or hospital that reached out of its normal sphere of business to focus attention on a health care issue or help solve a community problem.

Volunteer: Honors an individual who reaches out with time or skills to focus on patients or a health care issue without expectation of reimbursement.

Health Care Provider - Physician: Honors a physician whose performance is considered exemplary by patients and peers.

Health Care Provider - Non-physician: Honors a health care provider other than a doctor (ex. pharmacist, physicians assistant, researcher, technician, etc.) whose performance is considered exemplary.

Administrative Excellence: Honors a hospital administrator whose performance, care and leadership are considered exemplary by patients and peers.

Corporate Achievement in Health Care: Honors organizations with exemplary employee health, occupational, environmental and preventative medical practices.

Lifetime Achievement: Honors a health care provider who has displayed a lifetime of dedication to exemplary care, innovation and excellence by patients and peers.
