Live PC Give PC Raises Big Bucks for Summit County Nonprofits

By Devin Felix

Park City – Nov. 8 was a big day for nonprofit organizations in Summit County: The third annual Live PC Give PC fundraising event raised $832,117 to benefit nearly 80 different nonprofit groups in and around Park City.

The total is an impressive figure, but just as important is this figure: 2,629. That’s the number of individual donors who contributed during the one-day event. Live PC Give PC is all about community involvement, says Katie Wright, program director of Park City Community Foundation, which organized the event. “Our goal is to live in a community where every single citizen contributes to nonprofit organizations,” Wright says.

Donors visited the Live PC Give PC website, where they selected which nonprofits they wanted to give to. Though all the donating took place online, organizers made sure there was plenty of real-world encouragement and incentives. Volunteers stood on street corners on Nov. 8 holding signs encouraging people to donate. Others manned tables and booths at public locations, some with tablet computers that passersby could use to make a donation. Statues around Park City also found themselves decked out in Live PC Give PC T-shirts for the day. The Park City Community Foundation had promoted the giving day for months through parade floats, conversations with business owners and other methods.

Focusing on a single day increases involvement and makes donating more exciting, Wright says. The website displayed counters to show a real-time donation totals, as well as how much each organization had raised. The organizations that got the most donors received prizes of additional grant money. Mountain Trails Foundation had the most unique donors, with 474. The Egyptian Theatre received the most total donations, at $43,790.

Park City – PC SPORT opened in a formerly vacant storefront on Main Street. The store sells outdoor brands such as Mountain Hardwear and Salomon.

Park City – SUMMIT SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY of Park City opened a new 40-agent firm at 2455 E. Parley’s Way, Ste. 240 in Salt Lake City.
