It’s no secret that Utah is a hotbed of diverse, strong industries, and the construction industry is no exception. Engineering News-Record (ENR) annually compiles its “Top List” to recognize national and international firms, and Utah firms consistently make the cut.
The lists bring a form of organization to the construction industry. ENR conducts a survey and compiles the rankings of companies engaged in general contracting, specialty contracting, engineering, architecture, planning and studies.
“Rankings give us a snapshot of a few different items. First, it is a simple benchmark of how well we are performing and how much we have grown versus our competition. Second, our continual long-standing rankings are confirmation to Big-D and our customers that we are delivering service that supports steady performance, growth and stability. Last, our rankings aid our goal of recruiting the best new talent and retaining our existing teams,” said Big-D Construction President Rob Moore.
And according to Moore, the rankings help improve Utah’s economy. “For the state of Utah, the rankings are a testament to how extremely qualified our construction firms are. It proves to customers that they don’t need to go outside the state to acquire prominent firms; we maintain nationally ranked professional contractors and subcontractors right here. When companies famous worldwide like Hershey’s, eBay, Home Depot, Janicki Industries and Adobe came to Utah to build their new facilities, they all hired nationally ranked firms to build their projects, all of them based in Utah!”
ENR publishes nine Top Lists that compare an assortment of companies and sectors of the industry. The lists that include Utah are:
