The University of Utah was recently ranked No. 5 in the Western United States for best return on investment by BestValueSchools.com. The site ranks dozens of national schools based on data from multiple sources, including U.S. News and World Report and PayScale.
To arrive at our list, the site took the top public university in each state, grouped each by region of the U.S., and ranked them within those regions according to their net 30 year return on investment (ROI), as measured by PayScale.
The University of Utah ranked fifth in the Western region. Data showed that the U has an in-state 30-year ROI of $733,300 and an an out of state ROI of $672,500.
"Prospective students are looking for bang for their buck," said BestValueSchools.com editor Paul Church. "And many of them find value in being closer to home. That's why we decided to compile our rankings by region."
