A new study released by Washington, D.C.-based Tech CEO Council found that Utah is the nation’s fastest-growing exporter of high tech hardware, software and services. The research results show the impact of free trade agreements on Utah's economy, in particular the high tech sector, which represents over 7 percent of the state's GDP. The study represents the first time that high tech, or information communications technology (ICT), goods and services have been broken out down to the Congressional district level.
In addition, Utah data reveals that:
Utah’s ICT exports have nearly tripled since 2006 thanks to a large number of semiconductor manufacturers in the state, including Intel, Micron Technology and National Semiconductor Corp.
