Salt Lake City – Smith’s Food & Drug has completed the remodel of its grocery store at 922 East 2100 South in Sugarhouse and will hold a celebration today.
The $2.2 million remodel is a complete redesign to the store’s look and feel. It includes wooden floors and contemporary décor. The remodel includes a new Starbucks coffee kiosk with customer seating, made-to-order salads and freshly made sushi, an enlarged produce department and more natural dairy and frozen foods cases with energy-efficient LED lighting. The store now has two complete aisles devoted to organic foods.
Smith’s has teamed up with Murray’s Cheese to unveil its first in-store Murray’s Cheese Shop in Utah. Murray’s Cheese will have a selection of 150 types of cheese and specialty items, including crackers, dried fruit, and an olive and antipasto bar.
“The new Murray’s Cheese Shop within our Sugar House store will add an exciting new destination for customers’ artisan cheese selections,” said Zane Day, Smith’s vice president of merchandising. “We plan to add Murray’s Cheese Shops within two more Wasatch Front stores before the end of the year.”
