Twin Peaks Rental and Repair has been open for only two years, but the shop’s owner, Tim Lewin, has no shortage of experience or absolute love of the industry. The opportunity to support the local ski and snowboard community provided the motivation necessary to fill a need in the industry as a repair expert.
Lewin has gone from being a professional downhill mountain bike racer to managing the Cliff Sports tune shop at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, to a traveling technician for Montana, a ski service technology company. Opening the seasonal rental and repair shop was the natural next step in Lewin’s career.
His background with Montana is a key feature that has given Lewin an advantage over other Utah repair shops. Experience repairing and selling Montana machines left Lewin with a greater knowledge and ability to perfect the art of tuning skis and snowboards. Lewin notes that Twin Peaks is the only local shop using the Montana high-tech tuning and repair equipment.
Twin Peaks, at its core, is a specialized tune shop with the additional perks of selling and renting skis and snowboards. And Lewin’s customers jump at the opportunity to praise his work and shop. One Utah Business Facebook fan says, “That place is awesome. Great location, great service, and most of all great equipment, so they crush it on tunes and repairs.”
The shop is seasonal, opening anywhere from September to October and closing at the end of the ski and snowboard season. Along with the average tune-ups, waxes and repairs, Twin Peaks offers rentals, demos and sale items. The brand offering is a wide range as well, with gear from Rossignal, Panda Poles, Amplid, Icelantic Skis and more.
Another Facebook fan says, “Twin Peaks Rentals and Repair is the only place in Utah that can be trusted with my skis.”
Twin Peaks is located at 3436 E. 7800 South, Unit B, in Salt Lake City. For info-rmation on rental and demo packages or tuning and repairs, visit twinpeaksutah.com.
