Salt Lake City – The UTAH ARTS ALLIANCE and MIDNIGHT RECORDS PRODUCTIONS acquired the Counterpoint Studios Building at 2335 S. West Temple. Midnight Records Productions is the recording arts program of the Utah Arts Alliance, a nonprofit arts organization.
Salt Lake City – The STATE OF UTAH’s UCAIR Air Assist program began offering grants to small businesses to purchase equipment upgrades to reduce emissions. The first grant went to ACS PRECISION FINISH, an auto body shop in Salt Lake City. The funds will be used to upgrade its painting system to decrease emissions.
Salt Lake City – The ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF UTAH awarded ANDERSON, WAHLEN & ASSOCIATES the consultant/engineer of the year honor at its convention, citing the firm’s 54 years of experience.
Salt Lake City – AGRESERVES, INC., a corporation owned by THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, completed a purchase of approximately 380,000 acres of timberland and rural land in Northwest Florida from the St. Joe Company. The land sold for approximately $562 million.
Salt Lake City – The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International recognized the UTAH OFFICE OF TOURISM with a Platinum Award at the 57th annual Adrian Awards for an outdoor advertising campaign in San Francisco.
South Jordan – CRICUT’s Cricut Explore design-and-cut system began selling at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft, Michaels and Hobby Lobby stores nationwide, as well as online.
Salt Lake City – MORETON & COMPANY sold its headquarters building and signed a new lease at 101 Tower. Located at 709 E. South Temple, the headquarters building was constructed in 1979. Moreton has owned and occupied the 43,000-square-foot office building since 1998.
Salt Lake City – The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced its 2014 National Convention—the largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders in America—will be held in September at THE GRAND AMERICA HOTEL in Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City – HONNEN EQUIPMENT began building a new facility at 1380 S. Distribution Drive. The facility is expected to open in the summer of 2014.
Sandy – SECUREALERT, INC. agreed to acquire GPS Global Tracking & Surveillance System Ltd., a privately-held technology research, development and services company based in Kfar Saba, Israel.
Salt Lake City – BIOFIRE DEFENSE, LLC was awarded the Next Generation Diagnostic System (NGDS) Technology Development contract by the U.S. Department of Defense after 12 months of competitive prototyping. The eight-year $240 million biodefense program will develop biothreat test capabilities for use across all four branches of the Department of Defense.
Salt Lake City – Ontario-based Sphere 3D Corporation completed its acquisition of all of the assets and operations of Salt Lake-based V3 SYSTEMS INC. Sphere 3D will maintain an office in Salt Lake, along with a demonstration lab.
Salt Lake City – DISCGENICS, INC. was granted an initial patent in four international markets including Europe, Japan, China and Israel.
Salt Lake City – The USTAR CENTER FOR GENETIC DISCOVERY partnered with California-based Omicia, Inc, to make analyzing a patient’s genome as routine as performing a blood test. The two organizations are building a web-accessible informatics platform, called Opal, to distill genome data to clinically relevant finding.
Salt Lake City – CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD | COMMERCE and C-III REALTY SERVICES facilitated the sale of the UNION HEIGHTS RETAIL CENTER, an 87,388-square-foot multi-tenant retail project anchored by CENTURY THEATRES and located in Salt Lake City.
Draper – MEGADYNE MEDICAL PRODUCTS launched its Mega Soft Universal Patient Return Electrode at the AORN Annual Congress in Chicago. It is the only universal patient return electrode approved for use on all patient sizes, 350 grams and up with no maximum weight limit.
Salt Lake City – O.C. TANNER was recognized as the nation’s leading company for 401(k)-based employee retirement benefits due in part to a 96 percent employee participation rate and an average account balance of 60 percent more funds than other employees across the nation.
Salt Lake City – REAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT relocated its headquarters and franchise support center to Salt Lake City, at 1455 W. 2200 South. The company was previously headquartered in Layton.
Salt Lake City – CLEARONE finalized the acquisition of Spontania cloud-based technology from Spain-based Dialcom Networks, S.L. Spontania allows customers to deploy video collaboration without the costs of expensive infrastructure.
Salt Lake City – The 2014 ADOBE Summit digital marketing conference drew thousands of marketers, agencies, technologists and others from dozens of countries around the world. The conference, held in Salt Lake City in March, had about 4,500 attendees, including about 1,300 from Utah.
Salt Lake City – The UNIVERSITY OF UTAH was named the second-best university to study video game design for undergraduates in a project by the Princeton Review. The U ranked No. 4 for graduate studies of video games.
