Sahara Inc., a diversified construction service company based in Bountiful, Utah, has been selected as the general contractor for the Horse Station at Cache Valley according to the project’s master developer, Strategy 5 LLC.
“Sahara Inc. and its president and CEO Thomas C. Mabey have long expressed a particular enthusiasm for the whole concept of the Horse Station,” said Strategy 5 Principal Ernest E. Bleinberger. “Their clear understanding of the destination nature of the Horse Station, which includes hotel and resort-type facilities, arenas and other major elements, coupled with the importance of retail and other commercial components, makes them a particularly good fit for us.”
As general contractor, Sahara will serve in an advisory role during the next phase of the development approval process, which includes completion of the final pPlat, construction drawings for all infrastructure and other technical steps. Civil Solutions Group, Inc. will lead the actual engineering work associated with this part of the process.
“Sahara Inc. will provide for the seamless transition from planning to construction,” Bleinberger said. “We’re intending to break ground on infrastructure this summer, so bringing aboard a general contractor at this point is an important achievement that will keep us on schedule.”
Some of Sahara, Inc.’s signature projects include the EnergySolutions arena in Salt Lake City, BYU-Idaho Performing Arts Center, Miller Motor Sports Park, the Mountain View Hospital, Idaho Falls, Mountain Home, Idaho Police Headquarters and the Davis County Conference Center and Hilton Garden Inn in Layton. Sahara has provided professional design/build and construction management services since 1985.
