The members, employees and board of directors of Pocahy Family Credit Union voted to merge with Mountain America Credit Union.
Located in Pocatello, Idaho, Pocahy Family Federal Credit Union is a $15.3 million institution with 2,250 members and a long tradition of providing members with quality, competitive financial services in a personal, professional and efficient manner. Pocahy Family Federal Credit Union approached Mountain America in late 2011 about a possible merger.
"We have worked hard to build our credit union, and in that time we have had a lot of success with meeting our members' needs. In recent years though, the competitive environment has become more challenging. We strive to strengthen the service given to our members, and merging with Mountain America will allow us to achieve this," said Pocahy Family CEO, T. J. Kennedy.
Mountain America's President/CEO, Sterling Nielsen agreed that it's a win-win situation for both institutions and their members: "We are happy to have Pocahy Family as a part of Mountain America. The merger gives Pocahy Family members a multitude of additional services that they were unable to enjoy previously and gives Mountain America new opportunities for growth in eastern Idaho, where we currently have branches in Chubbuck and Idaho Falls."
The merger is scheduled for April 1, 2012. However, Pocahy Family members can convert their accounts to Mountain America early. They simply need to visit either the Chubbuck or Idaho Falls branch.
Mountain America Credit Union has more than 70 branches in five states and specializes in a variety of financial products and services for consumers and businesses. With roots dating back to the 1930s, Mountain America is a tradition for many members. Today the credit union serves more than 373,000 members and has more than $3 billion in assets. Mountain America has been honored five times as one of "Utah's Best Companies to Work For" by Utah Business magazine. Visit www.macu.com for more information.
