LANE BEATTIE, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, was honored as the 2012 Communicator of the Year at the annual Golden Spike Awards on November 15. Beattie and the chamber are being recognized by the Greater Salt Lake and Utah Valley chapters of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for their leadership and communication excellence in promoting Utah nationally and around the globe. Each year, the Golden Spike Awards recognize outstanding work in the field of public relations and communications. The awards are organized by the Greater Salt Lake and Utah Valley Chapters of PRSA.
Former Hallmark associate home fragrance buyer AMANDA WRIGLEY has joined Candle Warmers Etc. (CWE) as an account representative. She will also take on the position of brand manager for the candle manufacturer’s Jamie Clair candles, wax melts, and home fragrance oils. Wrigley will serve as a primary contact between CWE and various mass distribution accounts to support sales team goals and targets. On the brand management side, Wrigley will use her former experience at Hallmark and as a corporate merchandising manager at Coach to help expand the vision and direction of CWE’s Jamie Clair line.
MARSHALL PAYNE joined BHB Consulting Engineers as a Project Drafter. Payne has an A.A. from Dixie State College and an A.S. with a drafting and design emphasis from ITT Tech. He’s always been interested in music and art, and with a career in drafting, he says he gets the best of both the art and technical worlds. Payne is a great asset to BHB’s drafting department.
The international humanitarian organization Heart Walk Foundation (HWF) appointed KELLI CHARLTON of St. George, Utah, as the newest member of its Board of Directors. A southern Utah based non-profit organization, HWF was established in 2004 to serve the forgotten and neglected Q'ero tribes of the Andes Mountains in Peru. Charlton brings years of experience in business, marketing, mentoring, and executive leadership. She is former owner and CEO of Planet Geothermal and was Business and Professional Women Utah State President 2007-2008 and chair of the committee on Women in Leadership Development.
Parr Brown Gee & Loveless elected JEREMY ADAMSON to the position of shareholder at the commercial law firm. Adamson has represented clients in commercial litigations, securities litigations, employment litigations, regulatory enforcement actions, class actions and contract disputes. As a shareholder in the firm, he will continue working in these areas.
SARAH PEARCE and LAURIE HOPKINS were appointed to the positions of Co-Managing Directors of the Sundance Institute. Hopkins and Pearce will share duties as internal and external leaders of the organization, each with distinct areas of responsibility. In addition, BROOKE MCAFFEE has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer of Sundance Institute.
The Salt Lake Chamber honored GAIL MILLER as the 2012 Athena award recipient at the 36th Annual American Express Women & Business Conference and Wells Fargo Athena Award Luncheon. Miller is the owner of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies and serves as chairman of the organization’s advisory board. She is actively engaged in the various operations of the company, including the administration of the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation.
