Parr Brown Gee & Loveless hired LAURA KENNEDY as an associate lawyer in the firm. Kennedy comes to Parr Brown with more than 15 years of experience in clerkships with the United States District Court, Utah Supreme Court and Utah Court of Appeals. During this time, she developed a keen insight into the workings of the court system through her experience managing cases, conducting research and drafting decisions for judges. Kennedy received her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University. She is a member of the Board of Trustees and vice president for Take Heart International, a non-profit organization that helps provide education for children in Zambia.
The Romney Institute of Public Management at Brigham Young University honored SHEILA C. BAIR as its 2012 Administrator of the Year. Bair was recognized for her service as the chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation during the recent economic downturn. Bair’s leadership during a tumultuous period in the nation’s financial sector has led her to receive many accolades, including being named by Forbes magazine as the second most-powerful woman in the world in 2008 and 2009, behind only Germany’s chancellor Angela Merkel. Also in 2008, Bair topped The Wall Street Journal’s annual 50 “Women to Watch List.”
Intermountain Healthcare’s Board of Trustees has named Utah business leaders SCOTT ANDERSON as chairman and BRUCE REESE as vice chairman of the Intermountain Board. Anderson joined the Intermountain Healthcare Board of Trustees in 2005. He is president and chief executive officer of Zions First National Bank. Previously, he worked at Bank of America. He has a bachelor's degree from Columbia University and a master’s in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University. Reese joined the Intermountain Healthcare Board of Trustees in 2002. He is president and chief executive officer of Hubbard Radio LLC, which operates 21 radio stations in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis/St. Paul, St. Louis, and Cincinnati. He has held this position since Hubbard Radio’s formation and acquisition of Bonneville International in April 2011. Prior to joining Bonneville, Reese practiced law in Washington, D.C. and Denver.
PSI has promoted AMY CROOK, PE to special project manager of its PacifiCorp Special Project. Crook is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil Engineering. She was promoted from Staff Engineer and has been with PSI since February 2009. Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI) is a leading independent engineering and testing firm and one of the largest consulting engineering firms in North America.
Peterson Partners hired HEATHER MERCIER as a Vice President. In this position, Mercier will be involved in all aspects of firm activities, including investment sourcing and due diligence, portfolio company support, and internal operations. Mercier has a wealth of private equity and investment banking experience, having worked in the industry for more than a decade. Prior to joining Peterson Partners, Mercier worked for Rocky Mountain Wealth Concepts, where she was responsible for all daily financial and operational aspects of the organization. As an associate at TA Associates, Mercier was involved in transaction sourcing, execution and portfolio management for over $5 billion of equity and subordinated debt funds.
Alliance Health Networks named DAN HICKEY senior vice president of products. Hickey will oversee the company’s consumer-facing properties, including the design and application engineering for its growing portfolio of health communities.Prior to joining Alliance Health Networks, Hickey led the strategy and development of Meredith Corporation’s digital portfolio. Under Hickey’s leadership, the Meredith’s Women’s Network reached record levels of engagement, growing to 35 million monthly unique visitors. Most recently, Hickey was responsible for Meredith’s digital food strategy that resulted in Meredith becoming the No. 1 media company in the online food category. In this role, he was responsible for the strategy, development and monetization of Meredith’s food portfolio.
PAUL C. BURKE , who is a partner and serves as general counsel of Ray Quinney & Nebeker, has been named "Pro Bono Attorney of the Year" for 2012 by the Utah State Bar. Burke was presented with the award on May 1, 2012 during the Utah State Bar's annual "Law Day" celebration. Burke was recognized for his significant pro bono work during the preceding year. Burke served in 2011 as the Chairman of the Rules Committee for the United State Soccer Federation, and as a member of the Utah Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on the Rules of Appellate Procedure. Burke also served as a mentor for a first-year lawyer through the Utah Supreme Court's mentoring program.
Gov. Gary R. Herbert appointed CODY STEWART as the Herbert’s new energy adviser. Stewart has worked in a number of capacities focusing on both Utah and national energy and natural resource policy, including Communications Coordinator for the House Committee on Natural Resources under Chairman Jim Hansen, as a senior Legislative Assistant on Energy and Public Lands Policy to Congressman Chris Cannon, and as a Legislative Director for Congressman Rob Bishop.Stewart also served, on two separate occasions, as the Executive Director of the Congressional Western Caucus. As Executive Director, Cody worked closely with over 50 western members of Congress to protect and promote western interests. In this capacity, Cody was responsible for developing, coordinating, and promoting legislative, regulatory and policy initiatives.
Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed former Speaker of the Utah House of Representatives DAVID CLARK to the Dixie State College Board of Trustees. Originally from Spanish Fork, Clark received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University. He also holds degrees from the National Commercial Lenders Graduate School and the Pacific Coast School of Banking. Clark represented Utah’s 74th district in the State House of Representatives from 2001 to 2012. In 2006, he was elected to serve as majority leader and in November, 2008, he was voted Speaker of the House by his Republican peers. Clark is currently the Southern Utah Regional Vice President for Zions Bank where he has worked for 35 years.
ALEX PIKET has joined BHB Consulting Engineers as a Project Engineer. Piket received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from The Hague University, the Netherlands, in 2011. He is currently working on completing his Master’s from the University of Utah. His passion for Civil Engineering was triggered twenty years ago when his country, the Netherlands, was plagued by a severe storm. He wanted to help protect his fellow beings by developing safe buildings structurally. His passion and intelligence is a great asset and BHB is thrilled to have him join their team.
Visit Salt Lake, the Convention & Visitors Bureau, hired KIMBERLY LEARY as Director of Convention Sales, focusing on the education market, while TOBIN “TOBY” HUEBNER is now Director of Sports Market Sales, responsible for securing athletic-oriented events, meetings and conventions in and around the Salt Lake area. Leary brings to Visit Salt Lake 15 years of hotel sales experience, most recently as Director of Group Rooms for Salt Lake City’s Sheraton Hotel. Prior to the Sheraton, she served as Director of National Accounts for The Canyons Resort in Park City, Associate Director of Sales for the Salt Lake City Radisson Hotel, numerous sales manager positions at the Salt Lake Marriott City Center, and held various hotel sales positions along the Wasatch Front, from Ogden to Salt Lake. Huebner offers 12 years of varied experience, the last three of which were spent as Sales Manager for both the Salt Palace Convention Center and South Towne Expo Center. Prior to that, he served as Director of Admissions for the Salt Lake Theological Graduate School following six years as Director of Students for Centerpoint Church.
JOEL MORRIS, owner of MediaMax, is the recipient of this year’s Silver Medal Award
from the American Advertising Federation of Utah. Throughout his career, Morris has been involved in the industry and broader community. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the American Advertising Federation and a past President of AAF-Utah. Morris has also held leadership positions with the following community organizations: Salt Lake Chapter for the Society for the Prevention of Blindness; Salt Lake Acting Company; Pioneer Theatre Company; the Coalition for Eye, Organ and Tissue Transplants; Kurt Oscarson Children’s Organ Transplant Coordinating Committee; and the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
