President and CEO of Woodbury Technologies, Inc., KAREN WOODBURY, was selected by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as the 2012 Utah State Small Business Person of the Year. She was chosen for her hard work, innovative ideas, and dedication to community. Woodbury will attend the National Small Business Week celebration in Washington D.C. to receive her award in person on May 20-22, 2012. Woodbury is honored to receive this award, but stressed that this is an award for the whole company. She cites the hard work of her corporate team, and employees as the reason for Woodbury Technologies’ success.
The Buckner Company added RYAN LOFTIN, JEREMY STUCKI, and MICAH ZABRISKIE as insurance executives. Having previously worked directly for the marketing arm of a national insurance company, the three insurance agents are excited about the opportunity of offering more options to their prospective clients. Loftin, Stucki, and Zabriskie have worked with commercial clients from a variety of backgrounds—ranging from contractors, oil and gas companies, auto dealers, farm equipment retailers, building material suppliers, to other retail and restaurant businesses. They are experts in helping businesses purchase insurance policies that are tailored specifically to their needs. Loftin will work out of the firm’s Salt Lake City, Utah office, while Stucki and Zabriskie will be based in the Ogden, Utah office. The Buckner Company is an independent regional insurance brokerage that works with dozens of insurance companies, assuring that their clients are presented with more choices and excellent pricing.
ROB KEONE is the new president of Convoyant, the Utah-based parent company of Reservation Nexus, Destination Nexus and the online magazine Suite Exchange.Keone brings to the position a resume which not only features his MBA from University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree from Weber State University in Criminal Justice, but also years of management and professional training opportunities. He has not only managed and launched startup companies, but also credits experiences working with corporations like Ford and Kelly Services for shaping his career thus far. He has been with Convoyant since April 2011.

Wanlass is a senior-level public relations consultant with more than 15 years proven experience with PR strategy, article and speaker placement, press release/article writing, and the overall positioning of clients – and their executives - as industry thought leaders. She started her career as a writer for The Associated Press and branched into PR at Applied Communications Corp., where she managed media relations for various products at Oracle and Storage Technology, Inc. As a Senior PR Associate for Snapp Conner PR, Wanlass will manage media relations, communications strategy and speaking opportunities for a variety of clients. In addition, she will participate in press release, case study, whitepaper and Web content writing.

Richter, Chief Scientist for The Rubicon Project, brings 15 years of experience as a software engineer and scientist. His in-depth expertise in machine learning, search engines, and computational advertising strongly position him to provide technological counsel as mediaFORGE continues to innovate display media products. Shareef brings more than 11 years of marketing, sales, and operations experience in digital advertising. Most recently he was executive vice president of Business Development at Epic Media Group, heading corporate development and strategic initiatives.
Needle expanded its executive team, with the appointment of former eXperticity executive BRIAN BOND as the company’s new vice president of product strategy. Bond will set the strategic vision and lead the execution of new features and products in SEM, SEO and retargeting that will leverage Needle's community of experts and add significant value to clients and consumers by combining feedback from sales, marketing, development, customers and prospects. Bond joins the Needle team with more than 15 years of entrepreneurial marketing and product management experience, most recently as vice president of marketing and product at eXperticity, which was named to the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies in 2010.
The law firm of Parr Brown Gee & Loveless has appointed employment and litigation attorney, HEIDI E.C. LEITHEAD, as president of the firm. One of many unique attributes to Parr Brown’s management approach is to name a new attorney to lead the firm each year. Leithead served as secretary for the past year – a prerequisite for the role of president. She will lead the firm for a one-year term. Leithead received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Utah and her Juris Doctor from the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney School of Law in 1987. She was awarded the Order of the Coif and Leary Scholar academic designations and served as a staff member and on the Board of Editors of the Utah Law Review.
