Salt Lake City – Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2014 wrapped up Jan. 25, and preliminary numbers show an estimated 7 percent increase in attendance, an 11 percent increase in store fronts, and a 4 percent increase in number of retail buyers. The number of international buyers at the show increased 14 percent.
The Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), in conjunction with OR produced more than 45 educational sessions on a variety of topics that impact the outdoor industry, including retail innovation, research, sustainability, best practices, trade policy, supply chain and applied technology for active outdoor businesses.
The All Mountain Demo at Solitude Mountain Resort kicked things off with a gathering of Backcountry professionals who came to test gear and accessories on display. Products launched to the market for the 2014-15 season included Alpine Touring, Randonnee, Telemark gear and Snowshoeing, Avalanche Safety Equipment, Splitboards, Winter Camping and Survival gear as well as active wintersports apparel and footwear.
This Winter Market debuted the New Product Zone – where companies unveiled new products, giving attendees one location to find new products. OR’s new digital product platform, Discover New @ OR, was showcased within the New Product Zone.
