Draper — Lone Peak Hospital has opened its doors in Draper. The newly hired medical staff at the state’s newest hospital began seeing patients July 31. The hospital is 116,854 square feet.
“Lone Peak Hospital is purposefully sized to meet current healthcare needs in this thriving community,” said Mark Meadows, CEO of Lone Peak Hospital. “We’re excited to bring hospital services to Draper; it is a continuing privilege to take good care of those who need us here.”
Lone Peak Hospital is located just of I-15.
Starting with a groundbreaking in April 2012, it took approximately 14 months to build the four-floor hospital and the surrounding landscaping. Much of the first floor is dedicated to surgical services with a large pre-operative area and nine large, private rooms where patients who undergo a same-day surgery will recover before being discharged.
On the north side of the first floor, there are four operating suites where surgeons will perform various types of procedures, including ear-nose-and-throat, general, gynecologic and orthopedic surgeries. These are the only “voice controlled” operating rooms in Utah; surgeons can interact with different types of equipment without touching them, which helps to improve infection control.
At Lone Peak Hospital, the second floor is dedicated to maternity care. Childbirth monitoring systems will facilitate movement and walking during labor. Two rooms offer Jacuzzis for water immersion during labor. A board-certified anesthesiologist is available 24/7 for women who prefer an epidural for pain management. When needed, two fully equipped, designated C-section suites are on the same floor.
