1. What is the historical origin of JT Steel?

JT Steel has a storied history as a structural steel fabricator that began over 31 years ago in the Salt Lake area.  JT Steel is owned by Jerry Taylor and Michael Arnold.  They have known each other for many years and have built the organization from the ground up based on hard work, intuitive thinking, performance quality and timely completion of each job.  They have literally done every aspect of the steel business, so their insight and understanding on how a job should be done and what the client expects is accurately profound.

2. What are the core values of JT Steel that culturally set your organization apart from your competition?

The culture of JT Steel resonates from its management team, which believes, there is “always room for #1”, and good business is “never too big to do the small jobs.”  Past JT Steel projects are found throughout the Salt Lake Valley, but extend well beyond the borders of Utah.  JT Steel looks for community partners with similar views toward our community.  The mantra of “Simply The Best, with insight and integrity” is exactly the core value JT Steel strives to perpetuate in all business deals.

3. What are some of the client projects you have worked with over the years that have really established JT Steel as an industry leader?

JT Steel looks for job opportunities that will benefit the community.  Taylor believes the company is “not just building a building, but building a community.”  Such past jobs which are now iconic in the Salt Lake Valley include: the seismic upgrade on the State Capitol Dome, Jordan Commons, BYU’s Baseball Stadium, MegaPlex Theaters, Sandy Park II, Thanksgiving Park, and Larry Miller’s home.

4. How do JT Steel employees contribute to the fabric of the community?

Jerry Taylor, who primarily oversees ongoing activities of JT Steel, is also the current Mayor of Escalante, Utah.  Jerry encourages all JT Steel employees to extend themselves and develop their talents and skills in all aspect of their lives, not just with their job responsibilities with JT Steel.  This also illustrates the company mantra of contributing to the local community wherever possible, and wherever your talents are needed.  All JT Steel employees strive to be a reflection of that example.

5. Futuristically, how is JT Steel going to continue to meet the demands on construction in Utah and the intermountain states?

Quality of work on projects delivered on-time and under budget will never get old, according to Taylor.  JT Steel enjoys long-standing business relationships.  “We work with many great contractors, and we expect to further grow and develop those relationships.” The future of steel construction and community development throughout Utah and the Intermountain West depends on harmonious, productive relationships between JT Steel and contractors.

6. What business attributes does JT Steel exemplify that attracts new business opportunities and further perpetuates your continued business growth?

JT Steels core values and mission statement reflect the perfect formula for success: Hard Work, Quality of Service,On-Time Deliverables, and Under Budget job completion, which is what makes JT Steel - Simply the Best!
