Lakeview Hospital and Mountain View Hospital are among only five hospitals in Utah to achieve the 2012 HealthInsight Quality Award. Each hospital is recognized for its high level of performance on two sets of publicly reported quality measures; clinical care and patients’ perception of care survey results.
The caregivers and support teams at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful consistently work together to deliver exceptional patient care. Their efforts were recognized by HealthInsight in two previous years.
“We are excited to receive such an incredible award that reflects the tremendous care our employees and medical staff provide for our community,” said Rand Kerr, CEO at Lakeview Hospital. “One of our core values is to 'Aspire for Excellence,' and this award illustrates our efforts to continually push for delivering the best patient care.”
This is the fourth consecutive year that the medical staff at Mountain View Hospital in Payson has performed well on nationally established clinical care measures.
“We are dedicated to providing the very best in patient care, and collaborations with HealthInsight have significantly enhanced our quality improvement initiatives,” stated Kevin Johnson, CEO at Mountain View Hospital. “It is gratifying to not only achieve a higher level of patient care at our hospital, but also this distinguished award – once again.”
The HealthInsight Quality Award is given to hospitals that achieve a high-level of performance on applying publicly reported quality of care processes. It acknowledges active engagement in advancing care in one or more of the following treatment areas, as set forth by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical infection prevention.
A hospital must rank at or above the 75th percentile in national Hospital Compare rankings to earn the annual HealthInsight Quality Award. This means that Lakeview and Mountain View hospitals performed better than 75 percent of all 36 reporting hospitals in Utah and healthcare providers nationwide. Clinical quality measures comprise 70 percent of the overall ranking and patients’ perceptions of care, publicly reported as HCAHPS measures, were weighted at 30 percent.
