Harmons Grocery Stores Opens Custom-designed Urban Grocery Store

Harmons Grocery Stores opened a new 70,000 square-foot custom-designed urban grocery store
on Wednesday, February 15, at 135 East 100 South at City Creek.

Over the past six years Harmons’ leaders have traveled the world and brought back the very best ideas for building and operating the store at City Creek. Special care has gone into making Harmons’ 16th store an inviting hub for the city where people working and shopping downtown can find the best tasting and freshest foods available, and get in and out quickly. The new store features:

• A modern, upscale décor
• A more compact, two-story store configuration with custom shelving that accommodates a large variety of fresh foods and groceries
• More than 20 cash registers placed at strategic points in the store to move customers through quickly
• Convenient, free two-hour validated multi-level parking and drive-and-load services
• A comfortable mezzanine that seats 225 people
• A large section of freshly-made foods that are packaged to “grab and go”
• A 57-item delicatessen which includes Harmons’ new Panini sandwiches
• Made-from-scratch artisan breads and pastries on site
• Freshly-baked and take and bake pizza
• A fresh sushi bar
• A large salad bar (the only one in the City Creek area)
• A wok bar with hot Asian-inspired delicacies available for lunch and dinner
• A coffee bar serving freshly-roasted Café Ibis coffee, made-from-scratch pastries and gelato
• A cooking school led by Chef Adalberto Diaz, and a kitchenware boutique
• A conference room available to reserve for parties, meetings or gatherings
• A U.S. Post Office
• A large produce department which includes freshly-cut and packaged fruits and vegetables for people on the go
• A custom-meat counter with freshly-ground sausages and bratwursts, a full variety of meats and Harmons’ exclusive dry-aged beef
• A seafood counter with fresh fish flown in daily when in season
• A full-service pharmacy and a full-time dietitian
• A full-service floral department
• A no-plastic grocery bag policy. City Creek Harmons will sell reusable grocery bags and continue to provide paper bags produced through a closed-loop paper recycling program in which Harmons participates
• Store hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily
