Salt Lake City—Silicon Valley VC firm Rothenberg Ventures has invested in Friendemic, a social media engagement agency based in Salt Lake City.
Mike Rothenberg, founder of Rothenberg Ventures, has invested in 15 startups within the past year, and Friendemic is his first investment in Utah.
Rothenberg said he is excited to be working with Friendemic, which serves clients throughout the country and is based in Utah. “Friendemic is an innovator in social media, with a talented team capable of continuing their rapid growth,” Rothenberg said.
Jason Barber, Brian Rzentkowski and Brig White founded Friendemic in 2010. Barber and White are BYU graduates and Rzentkowski is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Today, Friendemic employs more than 20 people with a mission of being “the most effective social media engagement agency in the world.”
“We started this company in Utah, have been impressed with the talent we have recruited here and love Utah's entrepreneurial business atmosphere,” Barber said. “We are excited to have a partner in Rothenberg Ventures to help us continue to grow here.”
The 29-year-old entrepreneur said the company is on course to triple in size this year, after doubling in size each of the past two years.
