Brigham Tomco | CEO, Zylun
Over the last several years, Brigham Tomco has played a founding role in six different startup companies and serves as the current CEO of one: Zylun, a company founded in 2010 that helps other companies grow and save money by augmenting their current operations with a custom offshore team in the Philippines.
During its first year, Zylun experienced very rapid growth, going from zero to 500 employees in the Philippines. Tomco says the rapid growth “forced us to go from a reactionary startup to a process-oriented [and] more mature company.”
Tomco tries to run a mission-driven company, and he empowers his managers to be leaders and experts. “I want to find people who are better than me in their respective roles—which allows the company to scale and improve,” he says.
Tomco is a member of the President’s Council at BYU-Idaho and the foundation investment committee at Utah Valley University. He also serves as a board member at Q-Sciences and Oxzen Media.
Ryan Westwood | CEO, PcCareSupport | CEO, Outbox Systems
“A successful professional is someone who is resilient; they need to be able to take multiple punches in the face,” says Ryan Westwood. “They do not focus on things they cannot control, do not play it small, and do not avoid change.”
This go-for-it attitude has served Westwood well in his pursuits. Early in his career, he led the sales teams for DirectPointe and, later, AtTask, where he doubled the company’s eight-figure revenue in only one year.
With ambition to spare, Westwood simultaneously launched two tech companies: PcCareSupport, which provides software, service and technology education to businesses and individuals, and Outbox Systems, which partners with companies like Docusign, Jitterbit, NetDocuments and AtTask.
These two companies have together created more than 100 jobs, and many of these employees are people with disabilities. Additionally, PcCareSupport partners with ProCert to offer single mothers and in-need women a free IT education, certifying them in Microsoft Office and design programs.
Kevin Williams | Founder/Managing Director, Claim Resolutions
After years of witnessing physicians and healthcare providers struggling to get paid, Kevin Williams formed Claim Resolutions in 2009 as a means to help doctors save time and money so that they could focus on patient care.
“We put our clients and their patients first and strive to secure their loyalty through top-quality service,” he says. “We do our best to transform the medical practices and specialties that we work with, to make healthcare more affordable and more accessible.”
Williams has faced his fair share of challenges in expanding Claim Resolutions’ client base, particularly when it came to medical and behavioral health specialties. “It took a supreme confidence to accept the challenge of being responsible for a physician or medical facility’s revenue without having specialized experience,” he says. “We learned that we can handle any specialty thanks to our tenacious and responsible approach.”
Prior to founding Claim Resolutions, Williams was a licensed stock broker with Rockwell Asset Management, working in the primary and secondary mortgage market.
Brandon Wood | Principal and Executive Vice President – Investment Division, Newmark Grubb Acres
Brandon Wood specializes in helping commercial real estate clients maximize returns in their investment real estate portfolios. Wood founded the northern office of Newmark Grubb Acres more than 10 years ago and has since been one of the company’s top-producing agents. He has managed more than 500 transactions totaling hundreds of millions of dollars.
Wood’s most recent deal was representing the seller in a $28 million transaction of an historic South Temple office building. “The property took nearly a year to close with a buyer that had many challenges. Brandon’s perseverance and understanding of all aspects of the transaction are what finally got this property to the closing table,” says Bill Nicoloff, principal at Newmark Grubb Acres.
Wood says key to any professional’s success is a commitment to education and improvement. He recently completed the Advanced Management Development program at Harvard University, where he was able to work with senior real estate professionals from around the world.
Bryan Wrigley | President and Managing Partner, Lotus Equities Group
Bryan Wrigley has, quite literally, changed the landscape of Salt Lake City. He left his position as executive vice president and head of acquisitions for Wasatch Development to start Lotus Equities Group, an urban infill development and adaptive reuse company. Wrigley draws on experiences he had while fulfilling a research fellowship in Japan and as a student in New York City to create sustainable urban residential projects.
