Extend Health, operator of a private Medicare exchange, announced that the company received a 2012 Hire Power award from Inc. Magazine. In its inaugural year, the Hire Power award recognizes the top 100 U.S. companies that are rebuilding the economy by putting Americans back to work. Extend Health ranked 12th on the overall list, 1st among health insurance companies and 5th among California companies for hiring from 2008 to 2011.
“Extend Health hired over 800 people from 2008 to the end of 2011,” said Bryce Williams, Founder of Extend Health and Managing Director of Exchange Solutions for Towers Watson. “As the operator of the country’s largest private Medicare exchange, our business model relies on domestic job creation. Our service centers, which are essential to serving our customers – retirees over the age of 65 – are all here in America and all of our benefit advisors are U.S. citizens. We are deeply committed to hiring Americans and contributing to the economic prosperity of communities in which our jobs and offices are located.”
In addition to its headquarters in San Mateo, California, Extend Health has service centers in Greenspoint and Richardson, Texas and the Salt Lake City area of Utah.
Said Jim Kelley, Senior Director of Human Resources for Extend Health, “All of our benefit advisors are skilled professionals who are licensed in insurance and coached to be sensitive to the needs of older Americans as they make critical decisions about their health care coverage. These are good jobs that offer training and licensing in insurance in multiple states and 290 hours of our rigorous, internally developed training, known as Extend University.”
Extend Health was an independent private company during the time period covered by this award. In May 2012, Extend Health was acquired by Towers Watson, a global professional services firm.
Extend Health is featured along with the other winners in the December/January issue of Inc. Magazine. Results are also available online at www.inc.com/hire-power, which has a complete list of Hire Power award winners who are adding jobs and rebuilding the American economy.
