EcoScraps Expands Its Sustainable Compost Mix

Press Release

June 21, 2012

EcoScraps, a leading provider of organic, chemical- and manure-free compost, is expanding its business into Northern California.

The company diverts produce waste from local grocery stores and restaurants away from landfills and turns it into compost products. The product will be immediately available in 70 big box home improvement stores in Northern California, as the first shipment was made at the beginning of June.

“This is a huge move for us,” said EcoScraps CEO and co-founder Dan Blake. “Northern California has always been a pioneer in sustainability and striving to be environmentally responsible. It seemed like a natural place for the company to start its next chapter.”

EcoScraps’ environmentally conscious approach aligns perfectly with California’s initiative in being the first state in the nation to enact standards to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. To date, EcoScraps’ process has saved the equivalent of 844,442 cars being on the road for two weeks. The company is looking forward to continuing the pattern of growth throughout the remainder of 2012 and has its sights set on other regions throughout the United States.

EcoScraps’ product enriches garden plots with twice the amount of essential soil nutrients than typical manure and chemical-based soil alternatives. “Not only is it more effective, it is also eco-friendly, safe for pets and kids, and prevents unnecessary waste from entering landfills and releasing methane into the atmosphere,” Blake added.

EcoScraps was founded in Provo, Utah, just two years ago and since has begun manufacturing its products in Utah, California and Arizona. Currently, the company sells its sustainable manure- and chemical-free organic compost throughout Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and now Northern California.
