Big-D Construction (www.big-d.com) was recently selected as the contractor for the University of Utah S.J. QuinneyCollege of Law’s new innovative155,000 gross square-foot building.
“On the heels of the successful completion of the Natural History Museum of Utah, Big-D is excited and honored to be selected for the new College of Law building,” said Big-D president Rob Moore. “This project is another greatly appreciated opportunity for us to contribute to this outstanding university, and it will also give a boost to the construction industry as a whole.”
“We are very excited to partner with Big-D on the College of Law’s new facility, which will transform the way in which architecture supports innovation in legal education,” University of Utah Dean Hiram Chodosh said. “Given Big-D’s demonstrated history of constructing innovative public facilities, including the new Natural History Museum of Utah and the Salt Lake City Public Library, among others, we believe they will be an ideal general contractor as we envision and build a dynamic and flexible facility designed to meet the needs of the next century of legal education.”
The new College of law building is tentatively scheduled to break ground in the summer of 2013, and is currently scheduled to open during the 2014-2015 academic year.
