Through its Heart of CHG program, new this year, the company created employee network groups that focus on a variety of interests, a compassion fund that allows employees to help co-workers going through a hardship, and a full day of paid time off each year set aside for each employee to volunteer.

Each quarter, CHG matches 50 percent of the first 5 percent employees contribute to their 401(k) plan. CHG also offers TelaDoc, a physician consultation service available 24-7 to provide telephone consultations about non-emergency medical issues at no cost to employees.

“The culture of 1-800 Contacts is what I love most about working here,” one employee says. “It's the extra benefits, such as the onsite fitness center [and] subsidized meals prepared by a private chef … that really make this company so great to work for.  They love their employees and they're not afraid to show it.”

The company also holds quarterly “brown bags” on topics that associates indicate are a concern or desired area of study for them. 1-800 Contacts also participates in at least one community service event a quarter, which consist of a variety of projects from being involved in a clothing drive to picking up garbage in a community park.
