Best Companies to Work For

Organizations that Go the Extra Mile for Their Employees

Sarah Cutler and Di Lewis

It’s that sense of humor and easy-going culture that is the hallmark of Rain, according to employees. They appreciate the company’s good benefits, dedication to wellness, flexible scheduling and approachable management. And that’s how the company likes it, says Andrew Howlett, chief digital officer.

“Rain fosters a company culture that encourages mindshare, creativity and individualism among its employees,” he says. “We work in teams, but are not micro-managed. We occasionally work long hours, but are rewarded greatly, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously.”

The company uses its success to give back to employees with an annual week off between Christmas and the New Year, as well as funding a company-wide, three-day cruise to Mexico.

Rain is a software and interactive development firm.
44 employees
• Company contributions to HSA
• Flexible scheduling
• Work-sponsored training and education opportunities

Bank of American Fork
During the recession, banks were often not seen in a positive light. Bank of American Fork President and CEO Richard Beard credits employees with making sure customers felt secure and confident when they came to the bank. “Our associates feel part of the communities they serve and often refer friends and neighbors to the bank,” he says.

Many employees say they are dedicated to the bank because management is dedicated to them, providing great perks and benefits, even during the recession. Employees have medical and dental benefits, access to financial training, and opportunities to train and advance within the organization. Company culture is friendly and open. One employee says that coworkers are given the same respect as given to customers, making it a “happy and light-hearted environment.”

Many employees also appreciate the community giving, with projects like the bank’s Woman of Steel Triathlon and Project Teddy Bear. “I am very proud to say I work for this company. I feel like we reach out and help out in the community as much as possible,” another employee says.

Bank of American Fork is a community bank that provides financial products.

Cementation USA Inc.
What makes Cementation USA Inc. so great? The people. Cementation recognizes the importance of maintaining a healthy work/life balance and focuses on supporting its employees so they can come to work and give it their all.

Cementation pays 100 percent of all benefit premiums for salaried employees. For hourly employees, Cementation offers two plans, one 85 percent paid and another that is 100 percent paid by the company. “I pay $0 toward my insurance per month. It can’t get much better than that,” says one employee.

The company also covers 50 percent of gym memberships, contributes up to $500 dollars for group sporting events and pays entry fees for health-related activities like marathons and cause walks.

Employees agree that Cementation truly cares about each person’s individual success. As one part-time employee says, “It seems like Cementation is committed to helping me reach my career goals in whatever way they can.”

Domo
Great benefits are only part of the reason employees love Domo. Beyond 401(k) contributions, good healthcare and generous paid time off, employees love Domo’s culture and the nontraditional benefits offered, like paid maternity and paternity leave, new baby and adoption benefits, catered lunch and dinner, a technology bonus to buy an iPad or tablet, and huge company parties.

But what most employees rave about is the company’s close-knit culture. One says, “Domo has created an environment for employees so they never want to leave.”

Cathy Donahoe, vice president of human resources says, “Having a positive culture has definitely helped us attract top talent across the organization. We’ve found that happy employees are the best brand ambassadors and the best recruiting agents that we could ask for.” The company tries to foster that interaction through an open-design office focused on collaboration.
