ELLE.com, the website of a fashion magazine, recently named The Gateway shopping center’s Bastille as Utah’s top shopping destination. In its piece titled, ‘50 States of Shopping,’ the site designated the hippest boutiques in each state and describes why shoppers love Bastille, “Because it’s chic as chic can get. Design snobs will swoon.”
“It’s really rewarding to be acknowledged by such a major fashion magazine,” said Jeremy Steenblik, partner with Swimming Horses, which owns and operates Bastille. “We work to curate a product mix that is not driven by price points – whether high or low. Instead, we focus our selections around solid design. We’re always pleased when this resulting aesthetic resonates with our clientele… or in this case, ELLE.com.”
Created in 1997 as a shoe salon, Bastille moved to The Gateway in 2001 with full women’s and men’s clothing lines including shoes and accessories. It carries cutting-edge fashions including brands like Rick Owens, Doo.Ri, Band of Outsiders, Alexander Wang and 10 Crosby. Bastille’s evolving offerings reflect its interpretation of current, relevant and inspiring fashion.
“Bastille truly represents one of the nation’s top retailers, and we are thrilled that they are here at The Gateway,” said Jason N. Kasal, vice president/leasing director for RPAI Southwest Management LLC, a subsidiary of Retail Properties of America, Inc. “This concept provides a fresh and vibrant energy that defines The Gateway, and is one of the best executed multibranded retailers not only in the market but also in the country.”
