The logistics-focused partnership between Aspen Logistics, Inc. and United National Consumer Suppliers (UNCS) to purchase, warehouse, and ship their products into new online markets has been fueled by the uptick in internet retailing, specifically the “deal of the day” momentum of immediacy shopping.
Aspen, a third-party logistics (3PL) carrier whose lanes originate in the western portion of the United States - where it has a number of large scale supply-chain operations, was selected by UNCS nearly two years ago as a long-term logistics partner. While the logistical operation is familiar to Aspen, the quick turnarounds associated with internet retailing, and in particular deal of the day bargains, were unique.
“For a long period of time these sites were focused on services, opposed to everyday products,” said Christopher Ticknor, Marketing director of Aspen Logistics. “The advent of this new service line provided the mother of invention to materialize. Our two companies are well versed in being nimble in our abilities to supply excess inventories in required fashions, in short timeframes. As such this made for the perfect opportunity for growth.”
The ability of UNCS to maintain a network of warehouses, Aspen being an integral partner, has provided a competitive advantage when manufacturers find it difficult to unload their excess inventories. Since then, the continued stagnation of the economy combined with a surge in internet retailers offering “deal of the day” incentives, UNCS has broadened its sales platform beyond wholesale distribution to traditional retail clients such as Dollar Tree, Bed Bath and Beyond, TJ Maxx, to meet consumer demand.
As UNCS’ operation expands into a thriving niche solution for the retail / manufacturing industries, Aspen grows with it. Aspen looks forward to the ever expanding relationship they share with UNCS and any future challenges it may hold.
