Orem - ORANGESODA is working with Google’s AdWords pay-per-click (PPC) advertising program. When users actively search for products and services, they see relevant ads at the very moment they are looking for them. OrangeSoda selects appropriate, targeted keywords to trigger the ads, manages bidding on behalf of local businesses and provides reports on campaign performance.
Orem - The UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY WOODBURY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS brought together Chinese officials, international experts and the business community for a one-day conference developed to provide an educational and networking resource for those interested in conducting business in Asia. The “Doing Business with China” conference covered a wide variety of international business topics including financial logistics, franchising and licensing, importing and exporting.
Orem - LANSCHOOL TECHNOLOGIES, a provider of cross-platform classroom management software, announced it was recognized as a CODiE finalist in the Best Classroom Management Software category by the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA). The company received the recognition for its LanSchool 7.5 application, which enables teachers to remove distractions, demonstrate skills, and monitor and assess student progress.
Provo - VIVINT, one of the nation’s largest home automation companies, launched a free severe weather alert service to U.S. customers who live in states most impacted by tornados. The application will be automatically downloaded to Vivint customers who have the company’s Go!Control panel. Once the application is downloaded, customers will start receiving the free tornado alerts.
North Salt Lake - NSL FACILITIES sold a 96,000-square-foot warehouse located at 140 N. 400 West. NSL Facilities acquired the building nearly eight years ago, and renovated it for a local food production company. The sale was coordinated by NAI WEST COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE representatives Steve Condie, Wick Udy and Zach Anderson.
Ogden - GOLDENWEST CREDIT UNION presented donations to nine local schools. The donations are the results of efforts by students, principals, PTA volunteers and credit union employees during the 11th annual Goldenwest 5K For Schools. Approximately 2,100 people registered for the event. In addition to donating the registration fees to the schools, Goldenwest added $5 for every person who participated. More than $40,000 in cash and in-kind donations were awarded to the schools and the Weber School Foundation.
Ogden - BEN LOMOND SUITES, a historic boutique hotel, has joined the Ascend Collection from Choice Hotels International. The network is comprised of historic, boutique or unique hotels in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. The hotel will gain marketing support and visibility from an international network. The hotel provides affordable lodging with rich upscale amenities, history and authentic charm. Since 2009, the hotel has been in the process of a $2 million renovation. Hotel improvements will continue for the next two years.
Brigham City - The BRIGHAM CITY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT completed a $25 million runway upgrade. The new 8,900-foot by 100-foot runway can accommodate all business jet class aircraft and large aircraft up to the weight of a B737. The city is working toward lower instrument approaches, and is now undertaking an Airport Master Plan for an extensive hangar and airport business park development.
Ogden - SETPOINT SYSTEMS, a designer and manufacturer of custom lean automation solutions and manufacturing equipment, announced a new $11.9 million contract with ATK SMALL CALIBER SYSTEMS to provide four additional .50-caliber ammunition case manufacturing systems for the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant at Independence, Mo. The contract, part of the U.S. Army’s initiative to modernize its ammunition facilities, is set for completion in early 2012.
Ogden - ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF UTAH awarded a 2010 Platinum Safety award to R&O CONSTRUCTION. The Platinum Safety award honors contractors with “Achievement of Safety Excellence” for safety ratings 25 percent below the national average. This is the second year in a row that R&O has achieved a platinum rating.
Heber - The WASATCH COUNTY TOURISM AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICE launched a new interactive website, gohebervalley.com, showcasing the dining, lodging, activities and events taking place in Heber Valley.
Midway - TARAHUMARA restaurant completed a renovation with the addition of a cantina. In addition to offering a full bar specializing in tequila, the cantina offers full-service dining. Tarahumara is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the summer.
Park City - SOLAR NAILS opened a new location at NEWPARK HOTEL. The salon is equipped to remove strong-smelling odors from nail treatments, allowing people to forget they’re in a salon. The salon has eight pedicure chairs and eight manicure stations. Solar Nails originally opened in 1993.
