Salt Lake City – For the second year in a row, UTAH emerged as the top state in the annual Thumbtack.com Small Business Friendliness Survey. The study surveyed more than 12,000 small business owners across the nation. Utah excelled across every category for small business friendliness, earning a top five spot in all but one.
Salt Lake City – MYRIAD GENETICS, INC. signed a three-year contract with UnitedHealthcare, providing it with access to BRCA testing and the myRisk Hereditary Cancer test for patients who meet the hereditary cancer testing eligibility criteria.
Salt Lake City – In May, HUNT ELECTRIC surpassed its safety target of 3 million man-hours without a lost-time injury—a goal that only 2 percent of electrical companies in Utah have been able to reach.

Salt Lake City – BIOMERICS, a provider of medical polymers, announced that PolyOne Distribution has been named the exclusive distributor of its specialty medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethanes in North America. PolyOne Distribution will distribute Biomerics’ full line of medical grade thermoplastic urethanes, which are used in a variety of medical device applications including vascular access catheters, introducers, balloons and wound care.
Salt Lake City – Gov. Gary R. Herbert honored three energy leaders for their contributions to the advancement of responsible energy development in the state during the third annual Governor’s Energy Development Summit in June. INTERMOUNTAIN HEALTHCARE was named “Energy Community Leader of the Year,” ENEL GREEN POWER NORTH AMERICA was named “Energy Innovator of the Year” and BURTON LUMBER was named “Energy Environmental Leader of the Year.”
Salt Lake City – Kareo Inc., a cloud-based medical office software and services provider, launched a new partnership with CHARTLOGIC, an electronic health records company. Together, the companies now provide an integrated solution of software and services designed to help independent medical practices successfully manage the clinical and business aspects of their practice.
Salt Lake City – XI3 CORPORATION entered into a multi-phase agreement with Intel Corporation to develop, manufacture and sell next-generation Micro-Mini PCs, including Intel’s successful Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) computers. Xi3 will initially work with Intel to further commercialize Intel NUC-based systems to global enterprise and government customers. The companies will also work together on new ultra-small form factor computing products, leveraging Xi3’s intellectual property and Intel’s low power processor technology.
Salt Lake City – Custom home builder and remodeler JACKSON & LEROY was awarded a 2014 Guildmaster Award for exceptional customer service, based on an independent customer satisfaction survey. The company achieved a recommendation rate of greater than 90 percent from its customers.
Salt Lake City – BOMA UTAH and SALT LAKE CITY kicked off the Mayor’s Skyline Challenge, a multi-year competition that encourages building owners across the city to proactively meet—and exceed—the air quality and energy-saving targets of Sustainable Salt Lake – Plan 2015 by evaluating their building’s energy use, setting energy-saving goals and undertaking energy-saving projects. Participants will strive to reduce citywide building energy use by 5 percent by 2015 and 15 percent by 2020.
South Jordan – LANDESK acquired Las Vegas-based LetMobile, which provides application wrapping technology. With this acquisition, LANDESK is moving aggressively to assist enterprise IT and security teams to address modern user work styles by extending security from the mobile device itself to the content and applications.
Sandy – TOGO’S SANDWICHES opened its first Wasatch Front restaurant in Sandy, with 13 more locations soon to follow.
Salt Lake City – AVIACODE partnered with Salt Lake-based AAPC, the nation’s largest healthcare training and credentialing association, to provide Practicode, a software as a service solution, to educate and evaluate medical coders. Practicode consists of multiple online modules that help medical coders strengthen coding skills, demonstrate proficiency and earn continuing education units through AAPC.
Draper – THE EGG & I RESTAURANT opened its newest location in Draper, making it the fourth Utah location and the 99th in the country.
Salt Lake City – UNITED WAY OF SALT LAKE helped launch the National Results and Equity Collaborative, which is designed to enable national and local philanthropy, technical assistance providers, public and private civic and service organizations, government and others to work together to help more at-risk children succeed.
