Salt Lake City – Digital recruiting provider HIREVUE launched its Talent Interaction Platform, a cloud-based service that helps employers source top talent, evaluate candidates’ skills and enhance new employee on-boarding processes.
The company also received funding from SEQUOIA CAPITAL, raising $25 million with participation from KICKSTART FUND.
Salt Lake City – UNIVERSITY OF UTAH HEALTH CARE opened a comprehensive Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinic, an extension of services offered by the U’s Neuropsychiatric Institute and Department of Psychiatry. The new clinic serves children, adolescents and adults in one location and provides social skills training programs and family support programs.
Salt Lake City – CHUCK E. CHEESE’S opened its newest restaurant at 389 W. 1830 South. The restaurant is a 15,902-square-foot facility.
South Salt Lake – Officials from HAMLET HOMES and the CITY OF SOUTH SALT LAKE broke ground on a new townhome community called Carlisle Place, located at the intersection of 700 West and Carlisle Ave. (3800 South). The community will consist of 57 three-story townhomes with brick-and-stucco exterior.
South Salt Lake – MCCALL PARK opened at 3702 S. 250 East. Projects at the park site included the installation of new playground equipment, painting and landscaping surrounding the park neighborhood, and installation of solar lights and other neighborhood enhancements.
Salt Lake City – SALT LAKE COUNTY negotiated a deal to purchase land on the block behind the Matheson Courthouse (on 500 South and Main Street) to build an office building to house the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s staff.
South Jordan – MERIT MEDICAL SYSTEMS acquired the assets of Radial Assist in a $2.5 million transaction. Merit also acquired the assets of Datascope in a $40 million transaction.
South Jordan – ADP ADVANCEDMD launched the AdvancedMD iPhone app for physicians. The app allows for additional mobility and efficiency for physicians and their practices, allowing users to access files on the go, when desktop or iPad access is not available.
The company also launched AdvancedInsight, a business intelligence solution that allows for at-a-glance analysis of a medical practice’s finances on a single dashboard.
Salt Lake City – SALT LAKE CITY Mayor Ralph Becker proposed a new type of transit pass. Under the plan, Salt Lake City residents would be eligible to purchase a one-year transit pass for $360. This would be the first pass to be offered to municipal residents as a group, although the plan is modeled after similar bulk pass programs offered by UTA.
Salt Lake City – The STATE OF UTAH’s website, Utah.gov, was recognized by the Center for Digital Government with the Best of the Web award for the sixth straight year. Utah.gov has ranked in the top three best state websites since 2006.
Salt Lake City – The UNIVERSITY OF UTAH College of Humanities was gifted the Environmental Humanities Education Center in Lakeview, Mont. The center, which will be renamed the Taft Nicholson Environmental Humanities Education Center, will offer programs and workshops related to the ecology, history, wildlife and conservation value of the area.
Salt Lake City – ZAGG formed an agreement to distribute its products through Dick Smith retail outlets in the Australian market. Dick Smith will offer a range of ZAGG products, including Bluetooth keyboards for mobile devices and the invisibleSHIELD, a protective film for mobile devices. Midvale – CYMPHONIX CORPORATION was acquired by Untangle, Inc., a network software and appliance company based in California. Founded in 2004, Cymphonix provides IT network management. It will continue to operate as Cymphonix.
Salt Lake City – MINDSHARE TECHNOLOGIES acquired Empathica, a provider of social customer experience management (CEM) solutions. The acquisition establishes Mindshare as the largest VoC provider in the food services and retail industries. The acquisition was financed in part by SORENSON CAPITAL and PETERSON PARTNERS.
Salt Lake City – The Utah region office of COLDWELL BANKER COMMERCIAL NRT brokered a lease agreement between RiverPark Corporate Center and Orient Overseas Container Line USA (OOCL), one of the world’s largest international container transportation, logistics and terminal companies. OOCL will lease 50,000 square feet of the RiverPark 7 building, currently under construction.
Salt Lake City – UNIVERSITY OF UTAH physicists developed more efficient LED light bulbs by creating a new organic molecule that is shaped like rotelle, wagon-wheel pasta, rather than spaghetti. Known as a “pi-conjugated spoked-wheel macrocycle,” the molecule emits light randomly in all directions, which is a necessary feature for a more efficient organic LED.
