FINANCIAL CORPORATION closed on a coin-surance transaction with Mothe Life Insurance and DLE Life Insurance Company. Security National Life coinsured approximately 103,000 policies through this co-insurance agreement.
Salt Lake City – The UNIVERSITY OF UTAH’s TECHNOLOGY COMMERCIALIZATION OFFICE (TCO) kicked off an effort to be on the cutting edge of the “crowdfunding” trend by launching four campaigns on a new website portal designed specifically to attract donations for new university technologies. TCO created the portal—called University Tech Vault—through an exclusive partnership with RocketHub.
South Jordan – HEADWATERS INCORPORATED entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Kleer Lumber, Inc. The acquisition of Kleer Lumber adds a full range of cellular PVC products to Headwaters’ light building products offerings.
South Jordan – TSYS signed a long-term agreement with MERRICK BANK, a subsidiary of CARDWORKS, to provide flexible solutions for Merrick’s independent sales organization partners, including point-of-sale solutions, authorization, settlement, reporting, managed services and risk mitigation solutions.
Salt Lake City – WOODSIDE HOMES recently closed a major recapitalization transaction. Woodside refinanced its existing debt, significantly increased its liquidity and strengthened its balance sheet. In less than three years since emerging from a complicated chapter 11 reorganization, Woodside is positioned to capture the momentum of a recovering market.
Salt Lake City – The UTAH EDUCATIONAL SAVINGS PLAN (UESP) reached a milestone of $5 billion in assets under management. UESP gives college savers a tax-advantaged way to save for future higher education expenses.
Salt Lake City – UNIVERSITY CREDIT UNION held its annual Warm the Soles program, beginning with a shoe distribution party at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sugarhouse. University Credit Union members have donated more than $22,500, giving 750 children a new pair of shoes.
Salt Lake City – The U.S. Patent Office issued a notice of allowance for a patent that broadly covers CATHETER CONNECTIONS’ DualCap technology for disinfecting IV tubing end connectors (a “male luer” connector).
Salt Lake City – The SALT LAKE CHAMBER launched its Healthcare Toolbox, a set of online tools intended to help businesses offset yearly healthcare cost increases. The toolbox covers 12 different topics within four major categories: health and wellness, purchasing insurance, information and transparency, and consumer solutions.
Salt Lake City – BREATHADVISOR recently launched its breathalyzer kiosk service at four local venues. The company’s kiosks enable customers at alcohol-serving venues to check their blood alcohol content anonymously before driving. The venues that are equipped with BreathAdvisor kiosks include Lumpy’s South, Canyon Inn, Zest and the Wasatch Brew Pub in Park City.
Salt Lake City – ARES MANAGEMENT closed on a significant investment in Salt Lake City-based CHG Healthcare Services. This investment supports approximately 820 Utah-based jobs.
Draper – STORAGECRAFT TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION launched StorageCraft Cloud Services as well as the latest version of StorageCraft ShadowProtect, its award-winning flagship backup and disaster recovery solution.
Sandy – The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce hosted an open house to introduce chamber members to its new business resource center space. The resource center offers free educational materials, a dedicated computer for members’ use and an online learning center.
Sandy – THE LIVING PLANET AQUARIUM used an electric eel to flash the lights on its Christmas tree as part of the display in the “Journey To South America” gallery. The aquarium is planning to move into its expanded, Draper-based location later this year.
United Way of Salt Lake Receives Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Grant
Salt Lake City – UNITED WAY OF SALT LAKE was awarded a Roadmaps to Health Community Grant of $200,000 by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to ensure children enter school ready to learn, leading to higher rates of academic success and better health outcomes.
The grant will support a multifaceted approach that includes educating business, education and government leaders about the benefits of high-quality early learning; supporting legislation to implement high-quality preschool programming for at-risk children; and using data to promote statewide high-quality standards and a sustainable financing model in order to serve more children.
