Salt Lake City - BIOFIRE DIAGNOSTICS, formerly Idaho Technology, recently changed its name to more effectively reflect the expansion of its core business. The 22-year-old clinical diagnostics company’s evolution has been driven by accelerated growth of its broad molecular diagnostic product portfolio.

Salt Lake City - LAKEVIEW HOSPITAL and MOUNTAIN VIEW HOSPITAL achieved the 2012 HealthInsight Quality Award. Each hospital is recognized for its high level of performance on two sets of publicly reported quality measures: clinical care and patient perception of care survey results.

Salt Lake City - MOMENTUM RECYCLING selected the non-profit group ODYSSEY HOUSE to help staff Momentum’s new glass-recycling facility. Momentum’s facility will recycle glass for reuse as raw material by manufacturers.

Salt Lake City - The WESTMINSTER COLLEGE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT and SPORTS MED UTAH agreed to extend their contract for another three years. The agreement allows Sports Med Utah to remain the official sports medicine provider of Westminster College.

Salt Lake City - AMERICAN TEXTILE COMPANY extended its Salt Lake City operations to a continuous manufacturing cycle.

Salt Lake City - INTERMOUNTAIN HEALTHCARE opened a high-tech 327,000-square-foot distribution, warehouse and office facility in Midvale. Named the Intermountain Kem C. Gardner Supply Chain Center, the facility will house Intermountain supplies.

Salt Lake City - The UTAH STATE BAR kicked off its statewide Civics Education Program in elementary, junior high and high school classrooms across the state in honor of Constitution Day. The program places attorneys and judges in Utah classrooms to engage students in a one-hour lesson focused on fostering participation in, understanding of and excitement about democracy, separation of powers, the rule of law and the role of an independent judiciary.

Salt Lake City - HZO INC. was named one of the year’s top innovators by the NanoBusiness Commercialization Association (NanoBCA). HzO was honored for its water-block technology that protects electronic products from water exposure.

Draper - MAX MUSCLE DRAPER opened its first location at 428 E. 12300 South in Draper Town Square. It features a dynamic store design and an in-store experience that highlights the importance of health and fitness education.

West Jordan - TREBOR INTERNATIONAL introduced a new version of the Magnum 620 pump. The new version, called the 620D (D for “D Style”), is the third in a series of pumps offering deadhead capability, specifically designed for chemical processes in semiconductor, LED, chemical manufacturing/delivery, pharmaceutical and various related applications.

Salt Lake City - The official website of the state of Utah, UTAH.GOV, has been awarded 105 awards since 2001, 17 in this year alone. Awards received by Utah.Gov in 2012 include the Best in Class Interactive Media Award from the Interactive Media Council and Best State Website by Design Shack.

Salt Lake City - EQUINOX OWNER-OPERATOR SOLUTIONS launched Equinox Mailbox, an online solution for truck drivers to review and respond to mail received at home while drivers are on the road. Mail received at home is scanned and uploaded into a secure, private online portal that drivers can access from any computer, laptop or mobile device.

Salt Lake City - NAI WEST recently represented FLSMIDTH in the lease of 40,000 square feet of office space. The location is a temporary space while FLSmidth awaits construction of its new, permanent location. The temporary office is located at the Bridge Building at 5295 S. Commerce Drive in Salt Lake City.

Bluffdale - GOAL ZERO was named to Outside magazine’s fifth annual Best Places to Work list. The company was selected for enabling employees to pursue an active work-life balance, while fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration.

Salt Lake City - VOONAMI implemented a cooling system that uses 20 percent of the cooling energy of a typical data center. The low humidity in Utah and technology advancements combined to make the system efficient and scalable.

LDS Hospital Undergoes Transformation

Salt Lake City - After more than a century in business, LDS Hospital has renovated and rebranded itself, decreasing beds and trying to provide even more personalized care, says Jim Sheets, CEO and administrator of LDS Hospital.

After Intermountain Healthcare opened its medical center in Murray and closed Cottonwood Hospital five years ago, Sheets recognized it was time to makeover LDS Hospital and enhance its role in the community.

Intermountain invested $32 million to renovate and improve the lobby and patient care areas, reducing beds from 450 to 212. Sheets says the renovation aims to rebrand the establishment as an “elite community hospital.”
