Provo - ANCESTRY.COM added its 10 billionth record to its website. Included in the extensive record collection are ship passenger lists; military draft cards; birth, marriage and death records; and U.S. Federal Census records. Ancestry.com also offers unique collections that provide personal views into significant events in world history, such as a collection of records relating to the passengers and crew aboard the RMS Titanic.
Provo - LEAN SIGMA DAILY introduced an onsite structured business training program developed to provide continuous Lean training for a company’s entire workforce. The program features two training manuals, one for company team leaders presenting the 26-weekly module lessons, and one for each employee being trained.
Lindon - DIGICERT, INC. partnered with the Wikimedia Foundation to secure its web and mobile properties using the company’s Enterprise SSL Managed PKI. With 489 million unique visitors to Wikipedia and its sister sites each month, the foundation values the efficiency and trust afforded by DigiCert’s SSL certificates.
American Fork - COLDWELL BANKER COMMERCIAL brokered a new five-year lease with AMP SECURITY, which moved its headquarters to North Pointe Business Park. The 25,000-square-foot transaction gives AMP Security increased office space, occupying the entire top floor of the building, and the ability to expand as needed.
Provo - SAND MOUNTAIN STUDIO, a Utah app developer, released Slopro, an app that allows iPhone users to record high-definition video at 60 frames per second. SloPro enables iOS devices to capture video at twice the normal frame rate for playback in slow motion without becoming choppy. It also allows users to decide, after the fact, when they want their video to go in and out of slow motion.
Orem - MITY-LITE, INC. received the 2012 Manufacturing Leadership 100 award for Operational Excellence from Manufacturing Executive. The national award identifies and honors manufacturers and individuals that are shaping the future of global manufacturing.
Springville - The SPRINGVILLE CITY website received a new look with improved features while keeping the old address, www.springville.org. Improvements to the city website support the continuing goal of improving the relationship between citizens and city government.
Thanksgiving Point Partners with National Geographic
Lehi - THANKSGIVING POINT and National Geographic Cinema Ventures (NGCV) partnered to make Thanksgiving Point’s Mammoth Screen Theatre, hosted at the Museum of Ancient Life, Utah’s first National Geographic Experience Theater.
The new multi-year agreement makes the Mammoth Screen Theatre the first theater in Utah, and one of the first of many in the United States, with the National Geographic Theater branding distinction. As part of the agreement, National Geographic will supply multiple films each year for viewing at the Mammoth Screen Theatre, as well as provide marketing support for the theater.
“National Geographic visited our museum and put their stamp of approval on the quality of experience our guests receive at the Mammoth Screen Theatre,” says Gary Hyatt, director of the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. “This agreement allows us to let the public know that our Mammoth Screen shows are official National Geographic quality experiences.”
Mark Katz, president of distribution for NGCV, notes that “Thanksgiving Point’s enthusiasm and commitment to experiential learning embodies all of the qualities we look for in a branding licensee and exhibitor, so we are thrilled to be working with them on this new venture. We look forward to sharing our slate of upcoming films as well as some of our classic library titles with the patrons of Thanksgiving Point, which is a great destination venue for the region as well as for the state of Utah.”
Ogden - R&O CONSTRUCTION completed a residential treatment center remodel at the PRIMARY CHILDREN’S CENTER FOR COUNSELING at 5770 S. 1500 West in Salt Lake City. Building “C” included an interior remodel of the patient rooms and common spaces, and building “D” was expanded and renovated.
Ogden - For the third consecutive year, OGDEN CITY hosted the Archery World Cup stage in the Western Hemisphere. Archers competed for a coveted position at finals during elimination and qualification rounds, which were held at the GOLDEN SPIKE EVENT CENTER.
Ogden - WEBER STATE UNIVERSITY has a strategic plan to build five programs capable of attracting national attention. The goal of the Goddard School’s strategic plan is to garner national attention within the next five years. Faculty identified five areas or programs of emphasis: supply chain management, entrepreneurism, the master of taxation, international business and sustainability.
