AccessData Group Launches Mobile Phone Examiner Plus (MPE+)

Press Release

August 2, 2012

AccessData, a pioneer of digital investigations and litigation support solutions, announced the launch of Mobile Phone Examiner Plus (MPE+) to the legal market. MPE+ makes in-depth mobile phone data immediately available for litigation. The product is available as a stand-alone software solution or can be preconfigured on a touch screen tablet.

“The use of mobile devices, such as smartphones, cell phones and tablets are proliferating, and as such need to be considered when conducting e-discovery for litigation,” said Lee Reiber, director of Mobile Forensics for AccessData. “Mobile Phone Examiner Plus is a new product offering for the legal market and really puts the control into the hands of the reviewers when looking for data that can be found on a mobile device.”

According to International Data Corporation (IDC) the use of smartphones grew almost 55 percent year over year worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2011. MPE+ supports more than 3500 mobile phones and smart devices. It provides on-the-fly decryption of the operating system and logical data on the device. With the preconfigured touch tablet, users receive instant on-site triage and can easily generate reports to detail the data on the device.

Data that is generated by mobile devices and are potentially responsive in civil and criminal proceedings include:

  • Call logs
  • Email
  • GPS data
  • Photos
  • Video files
  • Voicemail
  • Web browsing history
  • Address book
  • Search history
  • Calendar

AccessData and Law.com hosted a webinar titled “Mobile Device E-Discovery - Ready or Not, Here it Comes” featuring speakers Greg Buckles, co-founder and principal analyst for eDiscovery Journal.com; Lee Reiber, director of mobile forensics at AccessData; and Keith Lyon, eCrime prosecutor for California Attorney General's Office.
